Italy > Greece > Paris - Day 16

Friday May 01      Mykonos, Greece

Mykonos has been described as “a feast for the eyes, with its azure waters, houses painted white with brightly colored shutters, bougainvillea trees in bloom, iconic windmills and colorful fishing boats”  all of which proved to be true.  In fact in terms of whites and blues it was a foretaste of Santorini.

We wandered... first to a café with a balcony overlooking the water.  It was open but still closed at 8.30 in the morning though we were invited along with others to be comfortable and use the (very fast) Wi-Fi.  This we did until opening time when we enjoyed a cappuccino out in the open air.  It turned out that this was in “Little Venice” a part of town where houses are built right on the water’s edge.

Then it was over to the iconic Venetian windmills at the edge of the harbour and more meandering though the town until, around lunch time, we came upon Jimmy’s – a long established Greek fast-food hole-in-the-wall which served us excellent gyros in pita and cold beers for just €12
