Italy > Greece > Paris - Day 8

“There is no crime in Venice – only pickpockets!”  Enough said!

Today we bought a 24-hour Vaporetto (water bus) pass and headed out into the lagoon to the islands of  Burano (lace) and Murano (glass).  There were a couple of stores offering some fine, and very expensive, products but there was also a lot of Chinese-made trash.  At one point I turned to Thea and asked “Why do I feel like I’m in Disneyland?”

The highlight of the day, however, was returning to St. Mark’s in the evening.  The light was slowly fading and there were relatively few people in the square.  It was a really delightful time to be there and to stroll the waterfront as the setting sub bathed buildings across the lagoon in the golden light of evening.
